Epimedium koreanum Nakai and its main constituent icariin suppress lipid accumulation during adipocyte differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes

Herba Epimedii extract and its major active flavonoid, icariin inhibit the adipocyte differentiation through downregulation of the adipogenic transcription factors, PPARγ, C/EBPα, SREBP-1c, and the FAS, ACS1 and perilipin expression and activation of the AMPK phosphorylation.
