During the first year, the child gradually straightens up: he stands up and becomes bipedal. The biomechanical dimension of this process is well known but the psychological dynamics is rarely described. In this text, we want to insist on the psychic dimension covariant with physical redress based on Pr. André Bullinger's works and Albert Coeman's writings. The child does not only stand up, he becomes verticalized. That means a postural stability necessary for all its practical organization but also an equilibrium around which the emotional and representative modulations are organized. We call this process the “Corporeal Axis”.
