چکیده انگلیسی
The most frequent complications after paediatric surgery are respiratory events, pain, nausea and vomiting or emergence delirium. These complications are associated with discomfort, children and families' anxiety, increased length of stay in the postoperative room, or lead to unplanned hospitalisation, and increase the costs of treatments. Postoperative complications have been widely studied and several tools have been validated to predict and avoid their occurrence. Furthermore, identification of risk factors can limit useless systematic treatments. Serious complications are rare but can occur after paediatric anaesthesia and can lead to intensive care admission and death. They are more difficult to predict, nevertheless large retrospective studies have identified risk factors. Comorbidities, ASA score, prematurity and young age are the most frequent reported risk factors.
