The prognosis is poorer for patients with lower ejection fractions. Treatment consists of drugs to treat the heart failure and devices to treat the arrhythmias and prevent sudden death. Including the patient in multidisciplinary heart failure units is of great importance. When patients are refractory to medical treatment, they might benefit from circulatory assistance devices or heart transplantation.
