Déception(s) de la psychanalyse comme science

In this article, the author reflects on the different connections that psychoanalysis has created with science throughout its history: firstly, the illusion of a biological basis with Freud, an undoubting Darwinian; then, the illusion not only of non-scientificity with Lacan, but also of the special place reserved for psychoanalysis somewhere between science and philosophy yet definitively detached from biology; and finally, the present-day disillusion stemming from the ever-growing loss of its status as a science as opposed to the cognitive-behavioral approaches which themselves are unquestioned by science. The author then investigates on two levels the possible transformation of psychoanalysis: firstly, concerning metapsychology and its practice given the changing idea of autonomy in modern society and then, its possible disassociation from the simplifying idea of a psyche as just a functional bodily organ.
