Updates in the Management of Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is an emergency for people with diabetes characterized by hyperglycemia, metabolic acidosis, and ketosis. DKA onset and recurrence can largely be prevented through patient education. Nurse practitioners are well positioned to promote patient education, self-management, and individualized patient care.
