Arthralgies et arthrites d'origine médicamenteuses, rares ou émergentes

Although drug-induced lupus and vasculitis are familiar to rheumatologists, they can be ignored when no other features but arthralgia is present, moreover as a large number of drugs can drive one of those two conditions. This review does not address those disorders, as well as arthralgia-arthritis induced by interferon, IL-2, BCG therapy and anti-aromatases, but focuses on the three more tricky situations: arthralgia induced by antibiotics, since they can be wrongly ascribed to the underlying infection (isoniazid, ampicillin, tetracyclins, quinolones, rifabutine, rifadine, quinupristine-dalopristine, voriconazole); arthralgia induced by anti-cancerous drugs, since a paraneoplastic reaction can sometimes be suspected instead (taxanes: Paclitaxel (Taxol®), docetaxel (Taxotere®), cabazitaxel (Jevatana®); platin-derived drugs: cisplatin (Cisplatyl®), carbo-platin, and oxaliplatin (Eloxatine®); vinca derivatives: vincristine (Oncovin®), vinblastine (Velbe®), vindensin (Eldisine®); other chemotherapies, bortezomib (Velcade®); check-point inhibitors: Nivolumab (Opdivo®), pembrolizumab (Keytruda®), ipilimumab (Yervoy®)), and filgastrim (Neupogen®); arthralgia induced by drugs used to treat rheumatic disorders or closely related conditions: leflunomide, methotrexate, TNF-alpha blockers, ustekinumab, isotretinoin, anti-depressants (mianserin, mirtazepin, nefazodone), bisphosphonates, opioids (which might have contribute to the deathly epidemic of opioid misuse). Last, some arthralgias can be induced by gliptins: sitagliptin (Januvia®), vildagliptin (Eucréas®, Galvus®), saxagliptin (Onglyza®), linagliptin (Trajenta®, Jentadueto®) and alogliptin (Vidipia®), as well as some anti-platelet drugs (clopidrogel (Plavix®), and ticlopidine (Ticlid®)).
