A distributed visualization environment as GUI for a virtual hospital

This paper focuses on the architecture and implementation of the distributed virtual reality environment. Required communication types are analyzed and current protocols and application interfaces of several implementations are evaluated. A prototype system including platform independent server and viewer application clients for standard web browsers is presented.
