Place des hyperinsufflations périodiques dans la prise en charge respiratoire des patients polyhandicapés

The aim of our study is to detail the usefulness of periodic hyperinsufflation in respiratory care for cerebral palsy children. We took an interest in the impact of respiratory problems and in the use of this technique among children with cerebral palsy living in two institutes in central France. By increasing thoracic wall motion and opening air cells, ventilation with mechanical hyperinflation may be useful by allowing better pulmonary growth in children aged less than ten years, to improve thoraco-pulmonary compliance and to improve cough effectiveness.
