Historia de las publicaciones de la Sociedad Española de Cirugía Torácica y Cardiovascular

This is the historical review of the publications of the Spanish Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (SECTCV). Since the establishment of the SECTCV in 1967, our publications have gone through five different steps until the current format. There have been five different steps since the beginning in 1972. The initial name of Cirugía Cardiovascular has been replaced and it was readopted as the definite one in 1994. Overall, the SECTCV has published four different journals run by four different Editors. A total of 39 issues, 389 articles and 3,542 pages have been published in our Journal. The latest era, the fourth, has been the longest and most creative leading to its interim consolidation although there still exists room for improvement. Our journal is currently distributed and has published originals form Argentina, Brasil, Canada, France, Portugal, Uruguay and the USA. The objectives for the future are the inclusion in international databases and an eventual assignment of impact factor. There is still a long way ahead of us.
