La rehabilitación de la anomia desde una perspectiva multidimensional

The treatment process in anomia rehabilitation is complex because a number of different factors must be addressed. Recognising this, we propose a multidimensional approach to anomia rehabilitation in which the speech therapist carries out a three-way orientation. Firstly, the speech therapist must orient herself to the deficit, proceeding from current knowledge about cognitive neuropsychological accounts of naming impairments to identify the type of anomia and design appropriate assessment and treatment tasks. Secondly, the therapist must attend the person, adjusting the approach as is found to be appropiate in relation to affective-personal factors that explain attitudes about anomia and motivation in the rehabilitation process. Thirdly, an adjustment to the personal life of the client is requiered, specifically, in relation to the role of family training in rehabilitation and challenges to support the well-being in a client's life. The first facet of our multidimensional approach informs the aims of therapy. The second is critical to the efficacy of rehabilitation. The last deals with the challenges for a client in their wider life, the critical contex of the therapy.
