Competencia lingüística y estilo cognitivo en niños institucionalizados

The investigation provides information relative to the linguistic development and cognitive style of 74 children between 6 and 18 years old in situation of lack of protection, institutionalized in several centers of reception belonging to the Autonomous Region of Extremadura. The study allows us to determine if the linguistic competence of the children in the different components of the language is the suitable one. It also provides us the evidence in relation to the reflexive or impulsive cognitive style of the analyzed minors. To evaluate the linguistic development of the children we use the BLOC screening, and to determine the cognitive style we use the MFF-20. The results indicate the impact of child maltreatment in the development of the language, and the presence of major difficulties in the pragmatic component. The results indicate the presence of differences in the social functioning and in the reflexive-impulsive cognitive style according to the age of the minors and the sex.
