TPMT genotype and the use of thiopurines in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease

There was no significant association between adverse effects of thiopurines and TPMT heterozygous genotype, but TPMT genotyping could be useful in establishing the most appropriate dose of thiopurines to start treatment.
