Anatomic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using two double-looped hamstring tendon grafts via twin femoral and triple tibial tunnels

The authors describe an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction technique with 2 double-looped hamstring tendons via twin femoral and triple tibial tunnels by newly developed drill guides that closely mimics natural fiber orientation of the normal ACL. The anatomic 3 bundles of ACL, anteromedial, intermediate, and posterolateral bundles, are reconstructed without notchplasty. The ACL grafts reconstructed with this novel technique should perform not only biomechanically better, but are more biologically-advantageous in graft remodeling due to increased graft-bone tunnel contact area.
