Quadriceps Sparing Total Knee Arthroplasty

Minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is now well established, with more than 1000 cases completed by the three investigators. The instruments are constantly upgraded, and a two-piece tibia tray is now available. The goal is to allow a less-invasive technique for TKA that will build on the established success of traditional knee replacement surgery, with a more rapid recovery and less morbidity. For surgeons beginning to master minimally invasive TKA, a smaller incision and the use of standard TKA techniques may be a useful interim step. In this report we describe our early successful outcomes with minimally invasive TKA.
