Determination of spontaneous emission rate from RIN data

RIN data are analyzed to obtain values of spontaneous emission rate Rsp. The values are compared with a new theoretical prediction and agreement is obtained without the use of fitting parameters. In addition to the agreement with experiment, the new theoretical expression is distinct from existing expressions since no empirical parameters are involved.
