Carotid artery stenosis in asymptomatic patients who have received unilateral head-and-neck irradiation

Conclusion: Radiation appears to cause carotid artery stenosis. There may be a dose threshold for carotid wall changes, which has relevance for radiotherapy in several tumor sites.
