آشنایی با موضوع

گفته می شود که یک ژن به صورت پلی مورفیک است اگر بیش از یک آلل، لوسۀ ژن را در یک جمعیت اشغال کند. علاوه بر داشتن بیش از یک آلل در یک لوسۀ خاص، هر آلل باید در جمعیت با سرعت حداقل 1٪ رخ دهد تا به طور کلی به عنوان پلی مورفیک شناخته بشود. پلیمورفیسم ژن در منطقه کدینگ یا غیر کدگذاری ژنوم رخ می دهد. اکثر پلی مورفیسم ها خاموش هستند، به این معنی که آنها در ناحیه غیر کدگذاری رخ می دهند و بنابراین عملکرد یا بیان ژن را تغییر نمی دهند. اگر پلی مورفیسم ژن در منطقه کدگذاری ژنوم قرار داشته باشد، می تواند بیان ژن را تغییر دهد و تغییرات در یک جمعیت داده شود.
