Novel sources of β-glucanase for the enzymatic degradation of schizophyllan

► Novel fungi were isolated that produce enzymes for schizophyllan degradation. ► Novel enzymes were more active against schizophyllan than commercial enzymes. ► Enzymes that degraded schizophyllan were active against laminarin and curdlan. ► These new enzymes could be used to produce novel modified schizophyllan.
