Effect of blast furnace dust on the degradation of chlorinated organic and endocrine disrupting compounds

► We examine the feasibility of using waste blast furnace dust (BFD). ► BFD dechlorinates tetrachloroethylene (PCE) to ethylene. ► BFD degrade a broad range of chlorinated organic compounds and endocrine disrupting compounds. ► Insolubilization of Zn eluted from BFD by a solution of highly enriched bacteria.
