Catalytic formation of carbonyl sulfide during warm gas clean-up of simulated coal-derived fuel gas with Pd/γ-Al2O3 sorbents

► 200-fold increase in COS concentration in fuel gas upon exposure to Pd/γ-Al2O3. ► Hydrolysis of COS has initial impact, but deactivation is observed. ► COS concentration increases with increasing temperature and decreasing flow rate. ► Developed kinetic model capable of capturing experimental trends.
