Application of chemometrics to study the kinetics of coal pyrolysis: A novel approach

► Relation between coal properties and kinetics of pyrolysis established first time. ► Chemometrics tools (PCA & HCA) were used to get linkages between these parameters. ► Carbon controls the dehydrogenation, primary devolatilization and dehydrogenation. ► H and H/C ratio control the secondary devolatilization and dehydrogenation of coal. ► Ash catalyzed the dehydrogenation reaction.
