Behaviour of the antioxidant tert-butylhydroquinone on the storage stability and corrosive character of biodiesel

► Static immersion corrosion tests to simulate storage conditions. ► Oxidation stability of biodiesel decreased as corrosion started. ► TBHQ retarded the corrosion since the metal release was lower. ► Tert-butylquinone (TBQ) was the main oxidation product detected. ► High molecular-weight molecules derived from TBQ radicals were identified.
