New path in the thermal cracking of triacylglycerols (canola and soybean oil)

► A study was performed of triacylglyceride cracking pathways with soybean and canola oil. ► A detailed GC-MS/FID protocol was applied to the organic liquid product. ► Reaction conditions were identified for a novel organic liquid product composition. ► A significant enrichment of valuable low-MW compounds was found in this product. ► This pathway may be a new option for the production of renewable fuels and chemicals.
