Corticosterone does not change open elevated plus maze-induced antinociception in mice

► Exposure of mice to three different types of elevated plus maze (EPM) increases plasma corticosterone. ► Either formalin injection or exposure to the standard or open EPM provoked a maximal physiological response on corticosterone. ► Adrenalectomy neither alters nociceptive response nor attenuates fear-induced antinociception. ► Open EPM-induced antinociception does not depend on corticosterone release.
