Variation in CAG repeat length of the androgen receptor gene predicts variables associated with intrasexual competitiveness in human males

► AR gene polymorphisms (CAG repeat length) predict strength, self-reported dominance and prestige. ► These polymorphisms do not predict mating strategy (via the Sociosexual Orientation Inventory). ► Neither baseline testosterone, nor T interacting with CAG length, predict any of these outcomes. ► AR gene polymorphisms may calibrate androgen-dependent aspects of intrasexual competitiveness.
