Managing indigenous knowledge: What role for public librarians in Sierra Leone?

Sierra Leone has profound and detailed indigenous knowledge systems that are relevant for cultural, medical, economic and spiritual development. Since all societies exist in a world of ecological processes and environmental events the collection, organization and dissemination of that knowledge especially by public librarians so that it can be used by as many people as possible, is crucial. Invariably this article explores the range of indigenous knowledge systems in Sierra Leone and the role public librarians should play in managing them in their libraries.
