Two women with multiple disabilities communicate with distant partners via a special text messaging system

► A special text messaging system was assessed with two women with multiple disabilities. ► The system included a computer, a modem, a microswitch, and special keyboards. ► The women used the system to write and send messages and to have incoming messages read out to them. ► Both women learned to use the system to successfully communicate with distant partners.
