A staged approach for identifying children with developmental coordination disorder from the population

▶ Children are initially screened for DCD and ADHD from a population sample. ▶ Second stage assessment affirms children with DCD, not previously identified. ▶ Confirmatory assessment finds many children with ADHD also have co-occurring DCD. ▶ 51% of children with previous diagnosis of ADHD found to have both DCD and ADHD. ▶ Boy/girl ratio closer to 1:1 for DCD, at screening, and at 2nd confirmatory stage.
