Surface miscibility of EPC/DOTAP/DOPE in binary and ternary mixed monolayers

▶ Monolayer properties are completely modified depending on the lipid type and composition (EPC, DOTAP or DOPE). ▶ EPC/DOPE pseudobinary mixture is energetically non-favored. ▶ DOTAP/DOPE pseudo binary and EPC/DOTAP/DOPE pseudo-ternary mixtures present different behaviors depending on DOPE content. ▶ For lower DOPE concentrations, the forces are predominantly attractive. ▶ If the monolayer is DOPE rich, the net interaction is then repulsive.
