Evaluation of the biological stability of waste during landfill stabilization by thermogravimetric analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

► We investigate the evolution of organic matter in waste with landfill age. ► Right shift occurred at 400-600 °C in DTG profile indicates increasing humification. ► TG and FTIR provide information well correlated to chemical parameters of stability. ► The combination of TG and FTIR can track the increasing biological stability of MSW.
