Single cell oil production from rice hulls hydrolysate

► Rice hull hydrolysate was used as feedstock for microbial lipids production. ► The oleaginous fungus Mortierella isabellina is able to convert lignocellulocic biomass into lipids. ► Lipid accumulation in the fungal biomass was possible in high percentages. ► Microbial oil produced is a promising feedstock for biodiesel production. ► Kinetic parameters of M. isabellina were determined using a detail mathematical model.
