Acetylation of glycerol to biofuel additives over sulfated activated carbon catalyst

► Acetylation of glycerol with acetic acid was performed over sulfated activated carbon catalyst. ► Glycerol conversion of 91% was obtained at 120 °C and 3 h. ► Selectivity was 38%, 28% and 34% to mono-, di- and triacetyl glyceride, respectively. ► The results revealed a stability of the catalytic activity.
