Effect of microaerobic conditions on the degradation kinetics of cellulose

► Anaerobic and microaerobic degradation of cellulose was studied. ► Maximum methane potential and hydrolytic rate constant were similar in both cases. ► A lower lag-phase time in microaerobic assays resulted in a faster solubilization.
