Citric acid modified kenaf core fibres for removal of methylene blue from aqueous solution

► Additional potential application of kenaf core fibres for removing hazardous dye from wastewater. ► Enhancement of adsorption capacity of kenaf core fibres towards methylene blue by esterification. ► 131.6 mg/g of maximum adsorption capacity was achieved for the citric acid-treated kenaf core fibres.
