Transition of microbial communities during the adaption to anaerobic digestion of carrot waste

► Microbial community adaptation to a substrate decreased diversity. ► Most abundant organisms in the final community were not seen in the source inocula. ► Spirochaetes, Porphyromonadaceae, Bacteroidaceae and Bacilli were enriched. ► Methanosarcinales was the most abundant archaea in the final community.
