Culture of Scenedesmus sp. LX1 in the modified effluent of a wastewater treatment plant of an electric factory by photo-membrane bioreactor

► The coupled technology for advanced wastewater treatment and algal biomass production is feasible in practice. ► Membrane filtration unit of the photo-membrane bioreactor can prevent the wash out of the microalgal cells, and cultivation with continuous flow can be achieved. ► The accumulation of metal ions from industrial wastewater has negative effect for algal cells growth.
