Degradation of phorbol esters by Pseudomonas aeruginosa PseA during solid-state fermentation of deoiled Jatropha curcas seed cake

► Large biomass of Jatropha seed cake is generated during biodiesel production. ► The de-oiled cake is toxic, hence can't be utilized as feed or fertilizer. ► The toxicity is mainly attributed to the presence of phorbol esters. ► A SSF process is developed for phorbol esters removal by Pseudomonas aeruginosa PseA. ► SSF is a viable process and the detoxified cake may find better usage.
