Near-IR responsive nanostructures for nanobiophotonics: emerging impacts on nanomedicine

Nanobiophotonicsis a very rapidly growing field of translational nanomedicine. Nanostructures with near infrared (NIR) response have received increasing attention from researchers, because light at NIR wavelength scan penetrate much more deeply through most tissues than visible light, up to several centimeters in optimal cases. This review highlights advances in harnessing NIR light for healthcare using nanostructures that provide noninvasive optical imaging, sensing, diagnostics, and therapeutics at tissue, cellular, intracellular and molecular levels.112
