Synergy between surface and core entrapped metals in a mixed manganese-gadolinium nanocolloid affords safer MR imaging of sparse biomarkers

The relaxivity of a rich manganese oleate soft nanocolloid (core) was synergistically enhanced with the inclusion of minute levels of Gd-DOTA-lipid in the outer membrane, affording improved detection of very sparse biomarkers with negligible complement activation incited by the surface paramagnetic chelates.170
