Inexpensive video cameras used by parents to record social communication in epidemiological investigations in early childhood-A feasibility study

▶ There is a need for an economical method to gather data on social communication in large populations. ▶ Parents were asked to record social interactions with their infants using inexpensive camcorders. ▶ Good quality data on social communication were obtained in over 85% of clips. ▶ Further work is required to establish the acceptability of this technique in longitudinal studies.
