Motor problems in Prader-Willi syndrome: A systematic review on body composition and neuromuscular functioning

▶ In PWS patients fat mass is increased and lean body mass is decreased. ▶ GH positively influences body composition in PWS, but does not normalize it. ▶ Decreased muscle mass (25-37%) contributes to reduced muscle strength and hypotonia in PWS. ▶ The neuromuscular abnormalities found in PWS may be innate or result from disuse. ▶ Training improves body composition in PWS patients and could prevent disuse.
