Indifferent to disease: A qualitative investigation of the reasons why some Papua New Guineans who own mosquito nets choose not to use them

► Examines reasons for mosquito net non-use among net owning individuals to inform potential behaviour change strategies. ► Multiple impediments to mosquito net use were identified, broadly categorized into net-, environmental- and human-factors. ► Indifference emerged as the most influential impediment towards regular net use. ► Findings suggest multiple opportunities to increase net use among net owners may exist.
