Evolution of groups with a hierarchical structure

► We model the dynamics of groups in general from animals to abstract geopolitical groups. ► We assume that constituents fear being in isolation and that asymmetric transfer of power occurs between them. ► We point out the universality of dynamic behavior observed in various types of group. ► Simulation indicates that a hierarchical structure in a group is necessary for its survival.
