Combinatorial and approximative analyses in a spatially random division process

► We consider fractal-like networks constructed by random division process. ► There are similar distributions of sizes or areas in cracking and city roads. ► Combinatorial exact and its approximative solutions are derived for the distribution. ► For a large size, the approximation shows a good fitting with the actual ones. ► The model implies a fundamental mechanism for generating the lognormal distribution.
