Scaling analysis of phase fluctuations in experimental three-phase flows

► We use phase characterization method to extract phase fluctuations from signals. ► We use DFA method to detect the robust scaling behavior in the phase fluctuations. ► The scaling exponent is sensitive to the transition among different flow patterns. ► Our method is effective for characterizing complex flow patterns. ► Broader applicability of our method is demonstrated and articulated.
