Do the distribution patterns of vascular plant species correspond to biogeographical classifications based on environmental data? A case study from northern Belgium

▶ Grid based mapping of plant species can be used to identify spatially well-delimited phytogeographical entities. ▶ Plant distribution patterns in northern Belgium only partly coincide with existing biogeographical classifications. ▶ In northern Belgium soil characteristics are more important than climatic factors in explaining plant distribution patterns.
