A GIS and indexing scheme to screen brownfields for area-wide redevelopment planning

► In this study we develop an indexing scheme for brownfield prioritization in large areas. ► The scheme includes three categories: environmental, smart growth and socioeconomic. ► Each variable is location-specific and not tied to a specific end use. ► We apply the scheme for the City of New Haven, CT and visualize it in GIS.
