Effect of Spirulina maxima on spermatogenesis and steroidogenesis in streptozotocin-induced type I diabetic male rats

► The effects of Spirulina maxima (SM) on testis function of diabetic male rat. ► SM improved metabolic parameters and testosterone levels in diabetic male rat. ► SM restored damage in seminiferous tubule and Leydig cells in diabetic rat testis. ► SM increased steroidogenic genes expression and decreased stress gene expression. ► SM might be beneficial for recovery of testis function in diabetic rat.
