Purification of selenium-containing allophycocyanin from selenium-enriched Spirulina platensis and its hepatoprotective effect against t-BOOH-induced apoptosis

► A FPLC method for purification of Se-APC has been demonstrated in this study. ► Se-APC exhibited higher antioxidant activity and better protective effect than APC. ► Se-APC showed novel hepatoprotective effect on HepG2 cells against t-BOOH.
